The Role:
The Technical Lead co-ordinates and coaches our software development team. You will be our go-to person for applying Agile methodologies to produce high-quality work. Duties include managing timelines, resolving problems, and providing effective guidance.
As the team leader, you will be the contact point for all team members, so your communication skills should be excellent. You should also be able to act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration. This is a hands-on development role, so you will be expected to contribute to the development work in the team.
Ultimately, you should lead by setting a good example and engage the team to achieve goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
- Implement systems and product architecture, and review engineering solutions
- Drives effective and secure AI adoption within their team or domain, setting practical standards and ensuring measurable impact on delivery
- Line management of engineering staff, including performance management
- Set clear team goals, prioritise and delegate tasks, and set deadlines
- Oversee and contribute to day-to-day operation, and improve operational procedures
- Monitor team performance and report on metrics
- Ensure systems security engineering principles are followed
- Support and motivate team members
- Support and motivate team members
- Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts
Required Skills, Experience and Behaviours
- Experience in an Agile environment
- Extensive experience in .NET software development for web applications, including test automation
- Proven experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure), including containerisation
- Communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel
- Organisational and time-management skills
- Decision-making skills
- Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems
- Confident in your technical skills, happy to challenge others and share your expertise and opinions
- An academic qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Desirable
- Exposure to learning, HR, or workforce analytics domains
- Prior experience in a scale-up or SaaS product company
